Meet Paula, she works hard to keep you in the know. She prides herself on bringing the creative edge to Motifworks. From web to social to events, if you need to know, want to know, or don’t even know you need to know, you can be sure, she’s getting the message out.
Paula joined Motifworks recently. She’s a local Marylander who has traveled the world, yet always finds her way home to Baltimore. Her pride and joy is her 15-year-old son, Evan, who attends Loyola Blakefield as an honor student and athlete. Paula has a unique background having attended University of Maryland, College Park twice (Go Terps!). First obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering and again for Marketing and Business Management. On a personal note, Paula runs a recreational baseball program for boys and girls ages 3-18, where she coaches both rec and travel teams ranging in age from 13-18. She is also an avid soccer player (futbol for those abroad).
We asked Paula for some fun facts and here’s what she had to say:
What three objects are on your desk?
Just the standard stuff here at the office, except for my old-school calculator! I just love my calculator. I try to keep it neat here in the office, but you should see my desk at home. It’s full of my creative necessities! They say a messy desk is a sign of creativity – well, I must be one of the most creative people on the planet!
What is the first device you reach for in the morning?
Sad to say but it’s my iPhone. I feel the need to check in on the world, work, and my friends before I even get out of bed!
After arriving at work in the morning, what is your first stop?
Coffee machine. I’m just a bit addicted to coffee.
How long have you worked for Motifworks? What are you most looking forward to with the company?
I’ve been with Motifworks for just a few months now. I’m really looking forward to helping the company continue an amazing growth journey and the only way to do that is to make sure our clients are well taken care of. They say, happy wife – happy life, I say happy client – can’t deny it!
I leave work each day…
I leave work each day wondering where the time went. When you love what you do, time just gets away from you!
Tell us about your funniest IT moment.
I’m not sure I have a funniest IT moment but I’ve sure had some mishaps, like the time I spilled coffee all over my laptop – it’s not fun to hear the sizzle. (note to self – always use a lid)
What is your favorite thing about Motifworks?
So far, the people. Everyone is incredibly intelligent and dedicated. Everyone loves what they do.
What trend in your industry are you most excited/interested to try?
I just love social media in general so I always like to explore the new outlets and how they apply to business.
If you could have dinner with any 3-people dead or alive, who would they be and why?
Tough one… let’s see… Mahatma Gandhi, Simon Sinek, and either Manny Machado or Lionel Messi… Why? Perspective, thought-leadership with humor, and well because I love sports and they are both amazing players!
What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote isn’t really a quote, but it’s more of a philosophy from the book Fish! I really do try to live my life by the four principles.
- Choose Your Attitude (it’s your reaction to life’s situation and only you can choose that reaction)
- Be There (be really there, in the moment, be present)
- Play (it’s not a game, it’s a state of mind that brings energy and creativity to whatever you do)
- Make Their Day (find someone who needs a helping hand, a kind word, a listening ear and make their day. It will also give you an energy boost).
